Post by: afc666 on 26 April 2010, 15:18
Hi all, ive got a mk3 gti 8v with ADY engine code, i had a new distributor wehich ive put in, incidentaly this resolved a previous concern of 5000rpm, howevr i would like to get the timing spot on with VAG COM, can this be with a third party cable on VAG 3.11 or version 4? also what do i do with the prongs that sit inbetween the bolt on the dizzy at the moment??

you can use 409.1 to do this, the procedure is to set the rotor arm to line up with the notch on the dizzy then check it with vag com. if its off, recheck the mark and check again!

the 2nd one shows you where to look and what the settings should be, but thats for the genuine VAG fault reader. will take a bit of common sense to translate that into the buttons you want to push in vag-com ;)
