here a lot about stroker engines but what is involved,i was wondering what is needed for the conversion.do you use a diesel crank with petrol rods or what ? just thort i would ask as have a 2.0 agg bottom end and a golf mk3 tdi lying around and wonder how it was done and what +sides there are to doing it thanks

Will need lots and lots of work on the block, but a TDI crank on a AGG should give you nearly a 2.1.

in a short block it's quite a lot of work, you have to machen the intermediate shaft rigth down to gain clearance, adjust the bottom of the cylineder to gain clearance, take 1.35 mm of the topp of the pistons and notch the skirts or use aftermarket pistons. at the end of the day you end up with an engine that the maths will say is suboptimal.
somewhat less in a tallblock, still ahve to some clearanceing iirc but much less think it's just the piston skirts and the crowns also need machening down 1.35 mm ( whitch is suboptimal )
if i were to do it id get aftermarket pistons with a compression hight 1.35 mm lower to save the macheing and weakening them and get 83.5mm ones ( if your going for displacement may as well get all of it.

so what code would a tall block be as have a few mk3 engines lying around thanks

there are sh!t loads of tall blocks like all the mk3 2ltr ones
