was driving around yesterday and when approaching a junction put foot on break as normal not hard but the car nearly locked up luckily no one was close behind, the car drove normally all the way home but this morning went on a short drive and suddenly the breaks started making that grinding abs noise and when i touched them there was alot of resistance in the peddle and they nearly locked up again?????? obviously abs but what ??? any ideas thankyouplease!!! :smiley:

Is the ABS light on?
Could be a faulty control unit/pump. Plug the car into VAG-com.

Mine also does this from time to time so let me know if you find the problem or if i do i will do the same.

My 16v started doing this about 6 months ago,traced it to the o/s/r abs sensor when i replaced the wheel bearing.I found the sensor had split and corroded from the inside.Braking was scary and unpredictable so ive unplugged the abs unit under the bonnet and braking is ok now-obviously no abs,but no heart stopping moments in traffic that suddenly stops :laugh:.Not a fix but will keep you on the road until you get it sorted.

cheers for the help all where exactly do you unplug the abs??? going to plug it in t laptop tommorrow anyhoo so will let you know what if anyting i find :smiley:
