Title: Squeaking Noise
Post by: MIKE_XT on 24 April 2010, 15:52
Hey guys,

I just got home from taking my mum's MKV GTi for a drive, and I noticed a very high-pitched loud squeeking noise on start-up/turn-off and when getting on and off throttle.

I can put my finger on what it is. Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas as to what it can be?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Cheers,
Mike

if not the belts....

could be the bearing in one of the auxillary units... (power steering pump, alternator, water pump etc)

if the belts do not sort it out.... try spraying WD40 on each auxillary unit (near the bearings if you can) and see if the noise dissapears... do each one seperately and give time for the wd40 to work its way in...

good luck.

P.S. WD40 will NOT damage anything or the belts. so dont worry.
