Im 18 and have been driving an Astra 1.6 for around 8 months now.
Im paying 213 (Pass Plus) a month, which im fine with.
But for .2 engine size difference (Golf Mk2 1.8 GTI 16v) they want another 90quid?
Most insurance companies wont even insure me. The cheapest ones I have found are Barclays and Swinton.
I was just wondering if anyone had any history with these two companies.
Companies who wont insure/too high priced so far are:
Quinn - Have to be over 21.... WTF??
Adrian Flux - 5.5K
AA - 7.8K!!!!
Swinton want 3.2 a year
Barclays want 3.5 a year
Im already paying 2.1 so 100 a month more isnt a huge deal but I would like to find somewhere cheaper.
Any hints/tips?

They want extra £90/month because of the "GTI" badge, eventhough the engine is only 1.8. It's considered as "sporty" by insurance companies, so as you know, anything sporty costs more...
Even paying £200/month for insurance sounds A LOT, so if I were you, I would just get some cheap run about, until I was older and had NCB's.

Well I will do in 4 months, but I have no idea how much they go down per NCB year.
Trying to way up how much I earn in a month and how much I am paying out. Its do-able, but I was just wondering if anyone has had any cheaper deals with other companies.

Try applying for quotes directly, not through comparison websites, because they get a commission, if they refer you.
See what you can get with Direct Line, Elephant or Bell. People seem to be getting cheap quotes there.
