Hi!
I just got my GTI 4 days ago and I think VW has stopped installing them but I'm not sure. Would be great if someone could post a pic of their engine bay near the firewall. I'll post a pic of my engine bay tomorrow to compare.

Have you seen these threads ? Lots of photo in here, but it is a Mk 5. Don't know if Mk 6 is the same ? :-

Yep. I've seen them. Does the noise pipe on the mk6 route the same way?

After looking at my engine bay I can't find a noise pipe. My GTI was built on week 11. I was quite excited to hear what it would sound like but I guess they removed it for a reason. I've read removing the noise pipe gives better throttle response as all the boost now goes into the engine.

Anyone else got a GTI without the noise pipe?

For what it's worth, mine was built at the end of June last year and looks exactly the same as yours. TBH - I'm not sure where to look for the fabled noise pipe. If it's meant to go in that hole in your first pic (looks like there's some kind of blanking plate there) then they weren't putting them in from day one it seems.

Only North American GTIs get the noise pipe, because VW felt that the particular market would enjoy a racier sound rather than better throttle response and a more refined cabin.
VWNA is definitely bonkers, in my mind.

All the reviews I read regarding this and the Mk6 were that this is an electronic device and not a noise pipe. I did a fair bit of digging on the internet and also contacted VW (as dealer didn't know) - was told it was electronic generation.
