i got a full oem heated seat kit (loom, relays, pads ,switch) for my mk3. going get up early tomorrow and see if i can set about installing it. i could of gone down the route of just buying some heated leathers but i wanted to do it to my own anniversary seats. il have to figure out putting the pads in the seats myself etc. but has anyone brought heated leathers for there mk3 that never had heated seats befor hand? there any handy tips/ticks to gettin loom etc in?
im guessing what the plan of action will be to take seats out, see if i can undo the cloth around bottom of frame to get pads in place. clips replay gubbins to bottom of frame. feed looms under carpet to center console or via sill trims. than i dunno really. take off bottom glove box/below steering collom/radio to get access to wires and try and connect it. the loom im sure will help me to figure it out.
any advice? or do's and donts?
thanks
liam

Here's how to get the seats connected >>> http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=137790.msg1306719#msg1306719
But it's only IF you have everything ready set up.
I'm assuming it won't be easy, and you might be better off just buying heated seats :undecided:

ahh thanks. see i didn't even know u got to the plugs via clocks. i got my passenger seat out today to start out, and after about 10mins of fiddiling with clips at bottom of seats i still couldn't get cloth off. decided it would take alot more time/care and attention. so clipped it back up and whacked the seat back in ha. im gunna set a whole weekend to the project. the connectin bit sounds easy as u say, it jsut getting the gear into the seats.
thanks for the info, great help for next time!

X01X - Did you ever take the pics? I am about to embark on the same job and the old thread has the picture removed as you say.
Cheers

Heated cloth doesn't really work to be honest. Leather is almost air tight so will hold the heat and get hot. They also get cold unlike cloth.
Cloth will loose the heat but still get warm.
Don't expect them to get hot. Be good if you ever spill a drink on them or leave a window open in the rain :undecided:
