Title: steering rack

ok, apparantly the lower ball joint was dodgey causing alot of play on my GTi 8V, now thats been relpaced im told that the steering rack needs doing too as there is still some play.
any ideas where i would get one from and a price?
had a search on google but cant find anything, im sure there are companies you guys use for parts.

I use scrapyards, mainly cus I work in one :grin:

If you're local to Suffolk I have a steering rack you can have for £30!

had a look on ebay, are ALL mk3 RHD steering racks the same or are they model specific?

cheapest non used 1 i have found is £125 :(

That's having a go.

Why don't you give Paisley Freight a ring (Google it) and get Joe's off him, I reckon PF would charge £20 to deliver it then it's cost you £50 hasn't it?

Joe's a top bloke at selling things.  :wink:

if your looking on ebay instead of looking for a particular part search for mk3 breaking and ask for the steering rack and suggest a price, try private breakers they will be cheaper.

is it deffo the rack itself and not the track rod inner ball joint? these track rods can be replaced if so, though tricky to do in situ. crows foot attachment for your socket set may help.
