Thank you JV
Right The .:R32 will be going to the new owner this sat 24th as long as he doesn't screw me! So for me I needed to find something that I could buy out right, I've had my Past 2 Mkiv's on Finance and well its just alot of money going out each month which well after 5 years a bit fed up of being skint!
Now they say you haven't had a GTI until you have owned a Mkii so will be picking this up on Saturday:

Now I feel that ive got myself a good car here at a good price and a good base to work with:
£1700
12 months MOT
142k on the clock
Stainless Exhaust
Lowered 40mm on Blisten shocks and springs
Full Cream leather interior
Electric windows / power steering
Full VW Service History from 91'
Loads of receipts for all the work thats been done on this car including Cambelt and water pump which was done 08' also has had a new starter motor as well.
The car was Garaged for 2 years think around 06' - 08' and in the last two MOT's its done about 2k miles
Now I have been told by the Seller about the History of this car as well. Was owned by Volksmania and they were going to break the car as it was in a right old state but a guy called Jamie (not sure if anyone knows who this is? ) saw it and told them he wanted it and would pay what ever they wanted for it. Then for the next few years he was up at volksmania buying parts to fix the car up the car was subsequently sold to Mitch (current owner) and well it will be going onto myself. Dont knwo how much of this is true but form all the receipts and work done its been looked after / put back in working order.
Now There are a few things that need attention:
* Full re- Spray in Oak Green - Car being 19yrs old there are a few dings here and there and chips / surface bubble rust here and there but on the whole nothing to extreme that cant be fixed
* Smooth rear Tail gate - Going to source a new Tailgate as im not a big fan of the smoothed look
* Straighten bumpers - seems to be some misalignment so need to investigate this to see if its just a case of the clips etc that hold the boot need replacing or playing with
* Drivers seat bolster - Has a tear so needs to be replaced - would ideally like to try and find some genuine Mkii Recaro seats ;)
Its a project so with time and money will be able to slowly sort this one out :)

Woooo Pick the Mkii up on Thursday Eve as long as the seller is in, Also my mkii Haynes manual and short shifter have arrived :D
-
Sale of the .:R32 went very well and was sold this morning, picked up the mkii this afternoon
Needs a few things looking at straight away:
Throttle: very stiff might need a new throttle cable but have got handy with the WD40 see if that can help make it less stiff!
Steering wheel needs to be aligned properly, tracking is fine but the steering wheel its self is off centre
Front bumper is held at the bottom by two zip ties so need to look into what the feck is going on there but got a feeling new bumper is going to be on the list, but for now its just good to have a car!
-
I know I bought this car as a bit of Project but this is silly and what a f**king day I had yesterday!
First off giving my brother a lift to his rugby club change gear and then the clutch pedal just hit the floor! At this poit we had to get out and push the car to the side of the road, My brother was on his way to go on his rugby tour and at the time was dress as a baywatch babe just funny as f**k as he was in this swimsuit with flip flops blonde wig the works! Then discovered that the clutch got caught on a bit of trim plastic! So panic over on we go.
Had the car no more than 24 hours and had an accident, don't know what happened all i know is the spare wheel on the back of the 4x4 in front has said hello to the bonnet of the mkii, just f**king speachless!
Im not going to put photos up as its just not right!, the RAC came out and had to open the bonnet with a crowbar, there are no leaks, head lights aren't broken, nothing else broken aside the obvious the car still runs and works just looks a mess! I have already ordered a new Throttle cable as the pedal was very stiff.
Had to get recovered home £150 as I was in Sailsbury, went on ebay last night and managed to source a oak green Bonnet in good condition, o/s wing has a little dent and some paint flaked off but one of the first things i was going to do is get a respray so i can live with that for now, just trying to source a big front bumper as the one that was on was a bit knackered anyway!
Spoke to my Mate chris who lives 5mins walk away and going round his later hes got a Mkii Slam pannel I can have and a few other bits im going to look at!
I feel like a total wally but this has kick started the work faster than i expected! My mate is coming round this morning and we are going to take the bonnet off and straighten it as best we can just so it bloody shuts!
sh!t happens and now its time to fix it
-
Went round my mates and picked up the slam panel and Quad light grill, the lights weren't damaged in the accident but bought a new set today as well, just need to wait for the bonnet and then can get things back in order!
-
New Throttle Cable arrived yesterday, going to fit it today. Think I need to get the car to a garage as well the steering Has been affected so im sure the tracking has been put right out by the crash. First going to get the new slam panel and bonnet fitted when it arrives then can book the car in and get it checked over. There is a bit of a squeak now when on full lock so assuming something with the PAS has been knocked / damaged
-
New Throttle cable against the nasty old stiff rusty one!
Well after about 10 mins of being a fool and trying to thread the throttle cable blind realized i could remove the top trim and actually feed it through! Now had to use some baby zip ties to keep the rubber grommet at the top so the pedal had enough tension to stay in the right place
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4062/4581634330_a5e26f4ce0.jpg)
-
Finally the Bonnet arrived today!
its in pretty much mint condition! and in Oak green which was even better so £90 well spent there but £90 i shouldn't of had to spend! oh well now i can get to work with taking the front end off and changing over the slam panel and getting this car back to its former glory!
-
Finally sourced a standard rear tailgate in oak green! The guy wants a crate of beer so happy to do the swap few little scratches here and there but perfect for what I want means i can get rid of the flush tailgate and the stupid number plate on the bumper!
getting there slowly but surely
-
Decided to buy a few things today
* Clear front indicators
* NEW front Big Bumper
* Locking petrol cap
Just looking back and i've owned this car a week now aside the obvious damage I caused and parts i had to replace I just cant help my self!
* New bonnet in Oak Green
* Slam Pannel
* Quad GTI Grill
* New Throttle Cable
* Smoked Crosshair headlights
* Replacement Spot lights
* Standard tail gate in Oak Green
waiting to hear back from soem guy on ebay breaking a Oak green mkii so i can replace the passenger side wing as its got a tasty dent in the front! then all i need is a new rear big bumper as where the exhuast is its been cut to fit a different exhaust and looks gash but once thats bought that is all the body parts i need to replace then its time to save for the re spray!
Got two job interviews next week one on monday and one on tuesday so fingers crossed i can bag on and get my life and car on track!
-
Right, bonnet, slam pannel, front grill and tools in the car off to may mates get the car up on the axel stand and get to work lucky for me he has a big garage so even though it raining we can get the front end in and sort this mess out ! Photos to follow
-
So got to my mates at 10 this morning and we got to work with sorting out the mess i created!
Discovered that the front bumper was held with zip tie and a screw on one side but ive ordered a new bumper anyway so can get that sorted out, got the old slam pannel out and got the new one it pretty easy tbh, managed to get the radiator back where it should be! and also found the right connections for the spot lights so they all work now! my biggest worry was making sure the bonnet release would work and lining up the bonnet, but all went pretty smoothly bonnet shuts and opens all ok, the shut lines are pretty much spot on but still a few little bits that aint right but for now its in a much better condition that it was! and now its just a case of getting the tracking done and get the steering looked at but heres the photos from todays work.
Never really done much on cars before and neither has my mate but its was pretty much bolt out bolt in but happy with what we done today

a few more things have arrived, the locking petrol cap for a start!! never liekd the idea of someone being abot to not only open the flap but also take out the petrol cap as well! but my crystal indicators turned up. Also got another package to pick up tomorrow which is either the new crosshair head lights or the weighted shift rod! and then its just the front bumper!!!
But all booked in at Vee W services on Friday so can see if there is any damage done to the steering fingers crossed thier isnt!
-
Went to Vee W services today to get the steering checked as i knew the tracking was out but wanted them to double check that nothing was bent etc luckily there wasnt! so just had the tracking done, but also got them to investigate why the car didn't start yesterday and it turns out that the reconditioned starter motor (when i bought it was told it was brand new!) is playing up and needs to be replaced wooo more things to change!!
But when i got home my new front bumper and crosshair headlights had turned up also poped in the crystal indicators to see how they look :D
(http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1354/4606143937_d15cc7027a.jpg)
new Cross Hair lights agains old, also got some philips blue vision bulbs coming
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4606758052_60f8dd6647.jpg)
How it looks with one fitted alot better imo and you can see where the 4x4 tailpipe hit the bumper :P
(http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1371/4606757156_d92a915cf8.jpg)
and both fitted jobs a good un!
now whilst i had the grill off noticed this
(http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3380/4606143021_c602a24c68.jpg)
it looks like its coming from the top connection on the radiator not sure if its anything serious or if it just needs adjusting
-
Got a new front bumper through the other day and have proceeded to get spraying in the back garden, had some paint mixed up at Halfrauds but its suprizing how much bloody paint you need!!
So picked up 2 cans of Oak Green from VW today and both of those cans have been used! Now its the lacquer stage!! photos to follow
-
Well teh front bumper has been sat in my bedroom still need to sand it back and use another can of lacquer on it! Im gunna get it re sprayed when i get the whole car done when ever that may be! but finally picked up the standard tailgate :D swapped for a crate of stella £10 bargin!! and its in oak green a few marks here and there but for what i want its perfect doesn't matter that its not immaculate and will be nice to get rid of the smoothed tailgate esp as its riddled with rust!
Was quite interesting tonight as i know the mkii is far from perfect but everyone at the VAGowners meet had a good nose around and liked it think its the interior that attracts them but after seeing a few tonight that looks spanking it really makes me want to get this sorted out and get it looking mint ;)
-
well finally went to Whitehouse VW breakers today to get a new Rad fan £23 bargin so at least i can stop the most annoying groaning noise EVER! But Decided to bit the bullet ad get the car booked in to Vee W services to get this stipid starter motor replaced as I cant hack getting back to my car and it not start even after smacking the f**k out of the starter motor doesn't sort it out!
So will be doing that today!
Also this week gave the new front bumper a few more coats of Lauqer so just gunna leave that for a few weeks so it can harden properly but looks good and is a temporary fix until the day when i have enough to get the car re-sprayed!
Also need to find time and some mates to swap out the out tail gate for the standard one!
-
Just had a txt off one of my mates telling me about a Audi A4 Handle kit for sale for £30!! so with a bit of luck i can get the kit delivered if it hasn't already gone for a very good price!!!
-
another small job done, finally fitted my weighted gear shifter, but had some fun trying to get the furthest pin out! well after lots of wd40 and alot of swearing and bending the pin totally out of shape it was clear it was pretty must rusted in place so the only thing i could do was to feed the whole gear shifter through the bung at that end! It was a bit awkward but i think due to the amount of wd40 it went through easy and pop in wen the new one!
-
Not much really happening at the moment but thought id post a bit of an update,
finally had my power steerign sorted today the silly belt was slipping so thats all doen, currenty got a oak green standard tail gate in my room along with a new rear bumper which i need to spray and a refurb'd set of RA's sat in my room next job is to spray the bumepr and get that and the tail gate sorted and a new boot popper!!
-
As per the last update kind of lost motivation with the car so many things were going wrong that it was just annoying the sh!t out of me!
Anyway after a fun drive down a B road from my drummer house i know quite well did re light the fire and fun of the Mkii and gave me a bit of motivation to get some work done!! Finally got round to ordering a set of 4 Toyo T1R's so they shoulf be here in the next day or two and I can finally get the refurb'd RA's on the car
(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d5/rocco-jocco/bbsra001.jpg)
Get the 4 wheel alignment done so this should improve the drive a hell of alot. Also go on the phone to Heritage VW today and ordered 2 cans of Oak Green paint ready for the new rear bumper which again has been sat in my room for a while along with the Standard Tailgate!
Just need to prep the bumper and find a dry and can get spraying again then sort out the rear end get the new bumper on and tailgate and get the number plate where it should be!! want to get that doen in the next month or 2 before it starts to get too cold :)
-
Will be up nice and early on Sat for a trip down to pro tyre, finally getting the Refurb'd RA's on the car along with 4 new Toyo T1R's full wheel alignment and a new set of locking wheel nuts as teh ones at the mo are a bit old and shagged!
So thats going to set me back i think in the region of £100
Also primed my rear bumper last wk when i had a day off, just need to get soem paint from halfords as a base coat then can use the 2 cans I got from VW. Once thats done and laquered can set about putting it on along with the standard rear tailgate at last!!
Moving along slowly! Also getting my hands on a set of crystal inner spots and a 16v glove box
-
Had a trip down to Protyre this morning and had my new wheels and tyres fitted
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/5000869120_b02828aa9e_b.jpg)
Also found out while i was there that i need new front topmounts and new rear wheel bearings, so need to do this before they can do the wheel alignement :P
-
Went to Halfords today and got some Oak Green Paint mixed, have have the rear bumper sat in the shed for a good 2 months!
So decided today to get to work while i had the day off, using a can of halfords mix first as a base coat and then ive got 2 cans of genuine VW Oak Green paint
(http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4714/primerrear.jpg)
-
Finally got round to doing a few silly little bits mainly getting the tracking sorted, the steering wheel was so off centre after taking it of a few times trying to figure out what was going on with the wipers so thats all done and actually gave the interior a good old clean and its a much nicer place to be! also got a new set of indicator stalks coming so can replace them when they get here but also need a new PAS pump so a few new things added to the list
-
Tiny update finally got round to getting a new MFA stalk and a new PAS pump, well a secondhand one but that should cure the mental wiper issues and well the heavy ass steering and squeak!!
-
Had a day off today so thought id try and tackle my bloody power steering!
First things first had to go to Halfords to buy a trolley jack and some axle stands as i haven't got any which kind of prevents me from doing any kind of work on the car! Lucky I found my Halfords trade card  so saved some money on that and while i was there picked up some new PAS Fluid
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/zippypockets/180052_10150398328390626_558070625_17148617_5202577_n.jpg)
Drained the fluid out and well it didn't look to healthy!
topped it all up and bled the system, now when on full lock the car still squeaks to hell so had a look and see what i could see,
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/zippypockets/180270_10150398391390626_558070625_17149736_5656275_n.jpg)
So had a little go at the bolts holding the pas pump in place but they we seized solid! the tension on the actual belt seem a bit slack so tightened the tension bolt a bit got the car down and took it for a spin, needless to say didn't make feck all difference! Jacked the car back up and then realized there was a small bolt behind the the tension arm so loosened this a bit then tightened the tension bolt then re tightened the bolt
Take 2, although it still squeaks at least i have made some improvement i don't have to fight the steering wheel so much when stationary!
still need to fit the spare pump i have but will leave that for another day
next things to do:
Major serivce!!
oh and here is what is currently in my room
-
So today finally got round to doing the long awaited oil change!!!
nice black oil!!
Drained all the nasty oil out and after some advice from Danny P we flushed the engine with some 20/50 mineral oil which did the trick really helped get the crap out and eventually it ran clear. replaced the sump plug and oil filter as well
then filler her up with the good stuff
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/zippypockets/silky.jpg)
now as we were doing this my mate was checking his air filter on his golf and I thought might be a good idea to check mine, and well glad i did when I opened the airbox was presented with this!!!
I felt sick seeing this! Guess thats what happens when the last service was in 2007!! although it was garaged for 2 years, or so i was told, anyway my mate drove me up to the local autoparts shop and got a replacement filter.
The biggest ball ache was I tried to start the car and it didnt! but a quick call to Chuff and discovered I had Knocked off one of the vacuum hoses! bit of a school boy error but all running and all good!
-
Finally got around to getting the old spark plugs outoday just as well look at the state of them!!
Just went for a quick drive and it just feels so much better! esp when starting idles perfectly now all i need to do now is get the fuel filter swaped out and fit the new expansion tank and thats the service bits done
also got a new handbrake cable through from euro car parts so need to fix that as well!
-
After a yr if having a replacement tailgate and bumper sat in my room they finally got fitted!!!
My mate Ian came round and we set about changing over the parts, Ian also checked a few other electrical things for me and re wired the boot as well so im very grateful for the hand!!!
Here is what it used to look like
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/4588600427_7e8997dd5d_z.jpg)
the old tailgate was just filled with rust and filler!!
Managed to snap one of the bolts holding the rear bumper in place but going to get 4 new bolts as there was a mix mash of bolts holding it in place! But there was no rust when we removed the rear bumper which is always a nice sight a few tiny little bits which we used a wire brush on and just sealed with a bit of spray paint
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/zippypockets/221893_10150571314315626_558070625_18304333_5336312_n.jpg)
and finally the back end is restored!! really pleased with it now mainly as ive been ,meaning to do this for well over a year and just haven't got round to doing it! but looks a million times better imo
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/zippypockets/216025_10150571830600626_558070625_18310349_8150295_n.jpg)
Next up is changing the driver side window regulator and the central locking pump, Ians going to wire it to my Toad alarm fob so i will have central locking on the key fob and will also mean i wont have to keep opening the boot from inside the car :D
-
Met up with Ian_GTI and Rob_G60 and Kev yesterday to help me sort out my rear brakes and handbrakes massive thanks to them as they really helped me out and got the car stopping properly!!
I initally got a reconditioned brake caliper from Vee W services at a staggering £102!!! thats including a surcharge! Going to take it back though as Rob took the rear calipers of the Raddo so we fitted them instead!
to give you an idea of how bad my brakes really were, when they were taking the wheel off ian asked me to step on teh brake to stop the wheel turning "Your foot on the brake stink?" and it was butthe wheel was still able to move and turn! Never a good sign!
While Ian got to work taking the utterly useless calipers off me and kev got to work on what you might say was an easy task of removing the old handbrake cable! Where they were so old and ruined it was quite a task just to pull them out which we did eventually but also pulled out pipe the cable runs through dude to it pretty much being fused together!!
After many failed attemps to get teh old cable out Kev went back to his and drilled them out,
After about 2 hrs or so we had changed the rear pads and calipers and got the new handbrake cables on and I finally have a car that now brakes correctly and that i can leave on a hill without it rolling anywhere when the handbrake is on!!
Ill whack up photos later, again big thanks to the guys they did alot of it

Dude! i just spotted the interior!!!!
Have you got any more shots??
-
havent got any recent shots but i do plan to take some new photos of the car and will get some interior shots done, have been looking at alternative front seats recently, want something that hugs me a bit more but the expensive part will be getting what ever they are re trimmed in cream leather, but want to do the rocco rear bench at some point as well
-
Gave the car a proper detail the didnt come out too bad! Cant wait for when im in a position to get a respray!
-
SO after having to pay a small fortune to get the car through the MOT which included a new Alernator the garage said they had noticed a small oil leak and adv for me to checkit out as it could be a seal or gasket gone,
sure enough oil was coming out a fair bit when i got home, oil light on etc (does seem strange its developed all of a sudden when its at a garage!)
but went to vw today and go a new seal and got a new gasket coming on tues which hopefully will cure it!!
