I have been searhing for a while for a VW Golf TDI that is less than a 1.9, is it out there?

Nope
Unless you get a MK2 which had a 1.6 engine but is completely different

GT TDI comes in 110, 115, 130 and 150bhp flavours

Yep 1.8 20v is 125bhp or the really poor 2.0 8v with 115bhp.

But for gods sake dont bother with one. You will get stung with "GTI" insurance on cars that dont perform like a GTI.
If your struggling with 150 insurance the 115 GT TDI is a good compromise and come with all the GTI spec.
I used to have a 2.0 "GTI" and am allowed to say that the performance is shocking, you get cars these days with 1.6 N/A engines that have more power/

Currently I have a MK5 1.6 FSI and it is very minimal and sluggish.
