Title: Mk 2 alternator

I have a 1989 Mk2 GTI 8v which needs a new alternator.  The problem is I have a choice of 55 or 65 amp and can't find out which I need.  Can anybody help?

There should be a sticker on the body of the alternator with the part no and sometimes the amp rating. If there is not and not a big diff in the price, go for the bigger one. Cant go wrong then. Steve.
