After a few toe in the water posts, I thought it was time that I was polite and said "Hello"
I'm old enough to know far better than buying another hot hatch but, after GTR's, Impreza's, Integra's, M3's and a few T-5's (not in that order), it was time to go back to the car that gives me the biggest grin per mile. I've owned an 8v mkII and a 16v mkIII and the itch was soon coming back. A friend of mine has an ongoing thing for Golf's and he bought two in quick succession, both 16v's, both three doors and both black. Anyway, before you can say " how much are coilovers?", we'd done a deal and I was making my way down south to pick the fella up.
The car was/is largely standard with two sets of wheels, 17" forged SSR's which are probably being sold on, and a nice set of et12 Compomotive MO's which are having some R888's fitted. It has a stainless exhaust, uprated springs and dampers and that's about it on the modifications. I'm fitting a single lamp grill and had the thing fully serviced, a small weld repair by the front jacking point, had a new heater matrix fitted, new gear shift selector, new hangers for the exhaust and a few other little bits. Currently in discussion with them about the bill as it's a bit more like the GTR running costs than I expected, but there we are  It will all work out in the end.
The main purpose of the car is to have some fun in a day to day sense, join some mates on track and at the 'Ring in their own Golf's and get to some shows in the Summer.
Great forum so far. I think I'll enjoy it on here :nerd:

hello from norwich too

I forgot to mention, it has G60 arches :)
First proper drive today, to and from Snetterton race track and the car actually feels really good. Smokes a bit until it's warm, so I guess that's valves but nothing I'm too stressed about.
No power steering is a bit heavy though!
