what sort of help do you need? coilovers (or air-ride) required to give you a range of adjustment to get the ride height you require. with regard to wheels, the first pic example will get you pulled over all the time  probably need them tucked under the arches a touch more in the uk :)

well im in the states so not really concerned about them stinkin out. just really like the small, wide wheel look with the stretched side walls. as for suspension just springs no air since i wanna keep cost low. its for a 76 rabbit

Hi, the standard fitment for a mk1 is 4x100 pcd and offset is et37.  6" was the widest i think vw put on but as you know you can go a lot wider.  depends what style of wheel you want to go for... wheels like ATS classics are quite popular for this size... have like 7" wide front and 8" rear.  look for brands suchs as ATS, Borbet, bbs etc... look on places like ebay and google 4x100 wheels, see whats about and come back here to check if they'd work if needs be.

oh and as far as suspension goes.. JV's ight, for a budget coilovers are becoming a lot more affordable now, i think full kits in $ start from around $300 onwards and will allow you to adjust the height of your car from anything between 40mm to 120mm.

well hopefully i can get some pics up friday for all of you. didnt realize how pricey those BBS RS's can be. I once saw a pic of a jetta with Porsche 928 wheels and fell in love. I think i may lean that way....now the question is adapters?

whats size wheels are you going for if you go with RS's. I thought you were going for the small and wide look?... I'm guessing you're asking about adapters if you find a set of 928 wheels? 928s look big on a mk1....

Unless i can find RS's for a really low price ill have to go another route. the 928s do look big...

I think 928 are 16s!.... not for me but i suppose its personal choice, i think RS smallest size is 15" which is still quite big for the look you originally wanted... I have gone for 15" RA's for mine... are you not going for the slammed look now?

the slammed look is def what i want. i originally saw those 928s on a slammed jetta and loved it but now that pic on a mk1 makes me want to go back to my original plan haha

would a set of bbs rs's in a 17x9.5 be extremely huge? plus i would need an adapter to go from 5x4.75 to the 4x100???? thanks guys

Wow, this has changed... I thought you wanted the euro look, slammed to the floor with wide wheels, those porsche wheels from earlier were commented as big.  17s would be massive... Mk1s can run 17s but it aint nice, won't ride nice and you'll stuggle to lower it on them.. Dont know what these 17s are from but if you need adapters then remember this will bring the wheels out making it even harder to fit them behind the arch.

thats alright, you've gotta toy with ideas first before you take action.. personally i think your first idea was the best... my thoughts are that mk1s and big wheels is a no no... 15s is the max and they dont look small on a little car like this... you wont be able to slam it on anything bigger without loads of trouble, with the BBS kit on mine I struggled with 15s!. that picture i posted earlier with the 928s on are 16s, can you imagine another inch on that....

FYI the car with 14s and the car with 17s is the same car!!

i found some stuff on ebay last night. ill get some links up. i think im leaning torwards 15s. i just cant seem to find the 14s. plus with the road conditions in my area, im lucky the car will have a floor pan after 1 weekend of driving.

on another note (i should prob start another thread) but im not getting fuel pressure. i poured some gas into the carb and it started but lookin at the fuel filter, nothing is running into it and theres a nipple leakin fuel right under the carb. looks like a missing hose or what not.

thanks guys ill have pics up tomorrow night.
