Title: CD album / track names not displaying on RSN510
Post by: MAW73 on 16 April 2010, 09:22
Hi Guys

I have an RNS-510 and a factory fitted 6 Disc Autochanger (which is fitted under the centre armrest). When playing audio CD's should the album / track names not be displayed on the RNS-510 head unit? The CD's I'm playing are not copied CD's or US imports. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Thanks in advance.. M

CD's only ever displayed track names etc if they had been written with CD Text and even then you had to have a CD player that was able to read CD Text.

Sony were heavily in to it.
I'm not sure if the RNS510 or RCD 510 do CD Text.  I'll check with mine shortly.

If you rip your CD's to MP3 you will have no problem reading from a burnt CD with track names etc.

I've checked the RCD510 and it displays Artist / Track so it must be able to read CD Text so I would imagine the RNS510 is the same.

You have probably picked a CD to try that hasn't been written with CD TEXT as like I said not all manufacturers include that function. Try one from Sony's label Epic if you have one. Or re-burn your CD to include CD TEXT.

Thanks for the reply. I will check later to see if CD's plays with track names through the RNS-510 unit (based on your findings with the RCD-510 I suspect it will). I have a feeling then, that its the CD autochanger that doesn't read the track names.

For I Tunes Only

Import the CD into I Tunes.
Create a playlist for the CD.
Then burn to disc ensuring you have selected the 'create CD Text' option.

Works great .

Do you know that the cd's you are trying definitely contain cd text information?

If it's a known CD then Itunes will get the info throught Gracenote.

If it's a made up CD not so sure.
