Title: OEM Stereo - mk2
Post by: shaolindan on 13 April 2010, 23:38
I've looked on this forum and others as well as google and I can't seem to find what the stereo was that came with the mk2 GTi originally.
I'm wondering what the unit is, presumably cassette, though maybe cd too? And if it is possible to get one and get that 'oem stock' feel but also use an ipod with it?

Any thoughts on this, or am I asking the impossible?

A CD player? This is madness - VW in the late 80's only just about gave you 4 wheels as standard, never mind such crazy audio technology! A Panasonic or Blaupunkt cassette/radio where the OE kit I think, so you could source one of those and run one of those ipod to cassette input things

Just get any CD player with a matt black finish and not a lot of buttons to press then it'll look as close to OEM as it can, while still boasting CD player, radio, iPod and MP3 player ability.
