Title: Water pump pully!

Hi guys, Just changed the ps and alt belts on my 16v after getting sick of that very loud squealing sound on revs!! Anyway as i took off the alternator belt i noticed the water pump pully has a much smoother feel to the ribs then the alternator and crank pullys is this right? The alt pully has very deep channels for the ribbed belt but the water pump barely has channels at all  :undecided:

yep thats correct. if you buy a new one from vw the pulley is completly smooth!

just checked mine, its pretty smooth aswell. good to no its normal  :wink:

Cheers guys thats good to know! The loud screaching has stopped to so must have only been the belt  :smiley:
