I've had a look around and i'm not quite sure where to post this
Basically i need a decent Alarm system for my Mk3 Golf Vr6. I'm not really clued up on this so any help pointing me in the right direction would be great!
At the moment all it's got is a Toad remote central locking kit..
I was looking at Toad or Clifford but they either look really awesome and expensive or cheap and crappy :(
Budget would be between £200 - £300..
Cheers

hi there where are you based as may be able to help you out
-
Would be awesome but i doubt it.. I'm in the Channel Islands!
-
yep that a wee bit too far i'm afraid never mind
the other option is if you don't need an insurance approved alarm i can supply an alarm pre loomed for your car with detailed fitting instructions giving you all the wiring colours and locations for your car for £120 delivered
-
No it doesn't need to be insurance approved but i would like a decent alarm and immobiliser. Have you got any details of the device? Sounds like a good offer and i would definately be interested
It's the Tug Boat Mk3 Golf Vr6
-
i can do you either a clifford arrow 5.1 or a sniper X1 both pre loomed to simplify installation for £120 delivered
both will do the total closure aswell
-
You have yourself a deal! Just out of curiosity do both systems offer the same security as each other? I like the Clifford Key Fob more - but i like the little window stickers you get from the Sniper! Which one would you recommend out of the two? i am completely relying on you to secure my car!
Cheers mate, i really appreciate your help
-
personally i prefer cliffords they are far easier to add upgrades to at a later date
the sniper is a good enough alarm aswell
there is physically no difference in features between the 2 alarms except the sniper has built in relays for the central locking whereas the clifford will need 2 relays
so in essence the sniper would be easier for you to fit regarding the central locking
-
Ahh i see, i think clifford would be the way forward for me then. When you say relays, what exactly would that involve to have that sorted? i have a Toad remote central locking that i wired myself and i don't recall needing relays?
-
the clifford only has a 2 wire central locking system built in so 2 x 4 pin relays would be required to convert them from negative to positive locking
whereas the sniper has built in relays already
the toad kit you fitted would have had built in relays aswell hence you would not have need them
if you go for the clifford i can add the relays pre connected and loomed ready to go for an extra £5
