Can anyone remind me of the criteria of getting a loan car ahead of their's being built?
I've a feeling that ~ 20 weeks post order was when a loan should be offered - but is this [if correct] at the dealers discretion or rather a mandate from VW?.
Your responses appreciated.

I got a loan car from 21 weeks and have had it for 9 weeks, due to have it for another 5 weeks.

I have a loan car at the moment... which will hopefully only be for another few days
I got it at week 18 and have had it for 3 1/2 weeks now.
You'll need to phone and beg VWCS though!!

I got a loan car after 20 weeks because my dealer wanted my trade in which had been valued on 29 August allowing until late November for delivery of my new GTI. When it became apparent that I would not be getting my new car in November they took my trade in and gave me a Passat until I got my GTI on 15 March, so I had the loan car for 7 weeks.

Thanks for the responses.
Doesn't look as though it's a hard and fast thing rather a goodwill gesture.

VW CS and my dealer both said I could have a "support" car from week 20. So for the last 3 weeks I have had a Golf 6 TDI.

Ordered mine end Sept 09, dely quoted Jan 10. When this didn't materiaise, the dealer offered my a "nice" car for the weekend. Unfortunately there were no GTI's available so I took an Audi A4 S-line (210PS) for the weekend. Nice car but the power delivery was not as smooth as the GTI.
I agree with others comments, you should ask, demand and if all fails beg! They should offer you something as compensation for the ongoing delay.

Mine is a result of several complaint letters to VWCS.
They told me your entitled to a courtesy car if your car is 20 weeks LATE.
If you were told it'd be delivered in week 5, by week 25 you'd be entitled to a car.
Sounds like a load of poop to me, as who would stick around for a car that was 4 months late?!

Err me... I did.
Loan car: Back in the day  in November 2009 they told me 20 week wait but due to the amount of loan cars i guess they changed the wording abit

I got one after exactly 20 weeks. You need to ask VWCS and your dealer organises it. My "courtesy" car isn't really a suitable stand in for my delayed R though:

Better than nothing I suppose.

Just an update.
Still no confirmed BW but I got my 'support vehicle' yesterday, a 5 door 122PS Golf; pretty canny too.
