Hi guys looking to get new tyres now for 17 inch wheels.
Car came with Bridgestone Potenzas which I don't really like. Find them a bit prone to spinning and not holding the road as well as I am used to.
Then swapped the fronts for Dunlops Sport Maxx (I think... it's sport something) which I do quite like.
A couple of my mates have been telling me to try Avons.
I want my tyre to give good grip (obv) although I don't want tyres that only do 100 miles. Has anyone tried Avon who could comment?
Thanks

I use conti sport 3 on mine (18") and really like them. Big improvement over the conti 2's . Only downsde for both these tyres for me is that they don't last that long-12k miles at the very best and I drive like ms daisy.

I've got Avon ZV5s on mine and they're great. Helps that I got a mate to get me a discount and so had two fitted for £150!
Well worth the money, loads of grip and they last well.

Not used Avons so cant comment but there are a million and one threads in this section with regards to tyres, take a quick look at the seach function, should bring back lots of other threads.

I had a mix of Avon ZZ3 and Dunlop SP 9000 on the GTI when I bought it and they weren't as good as the Potenza's I had on my last car.
I wouldn't fit any of them again, for different reasons.
Look into Falken FK452 (cheaper) or for or Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, which people rave about. :afro:
