Hey guys, just homour me please and read on lol
my exhaust is always jumping of its hanger, it is after market and its a pain in the arse lol.
also, my engine seems to move alot, under accelaration, and i can push it about in the engine bay and the front mount looks like its doing nout.
could their be a fault engine mount, which is causing excessive movement, which would take the exhaust of its hanger.
if so, are engine mounts common faults. and i can see the rear one being a PITA to fit lol

If you can move the engine with your hand I defiantly say there's and engne mount gone if not more than one,I'd have this checked out asap, also if the engine was moving enough then it could possibly push/pull the exhaust off the hanger yes.
-
Aftermarket exhausts tend to not have the ends on the hangers that stop the hangers coming off.
I hold mine on with a bit of wire coat hanger.
I also found a solid front engine mount helped a lot. A new OEM standard one should be ok for normal use.

yeh, the front mount moves nicely when i move the engine. almost like its under no pressure lol.
my aftermarket exhaust has no end on the hangers like you say. i was thinking of welding on a washer on each one.
i might remove the front one, look at its condition. and then buy a new one from there.
cheers guys

My bungees used to come off all the time but since I put poly ones on there the exhaust dosnt move and has stay on all three hangers nicely so it's worth putting them on,they are a right b!tch to put on but once they are your laughing
-
i was thinking about them, where did you get them from, or were they just generic exhaust hangers poly style
and 3 hangers..... my back box has two, and the next box forward has two
-
Sounds like you need a new front engine mount.
-
Fix the engine mount ASAP man or your car will die lol

Sorry i was using my mk2 as an example and that has 3 hangers,i got them from venom motorsport.

Engine mounts aren't to bad to change really, all you need is a socket set, a trolley jack and maybe a couple of spanners (for access on the rear mount as this is a little fiddly). Changing the front one should be your priority one though as this will make loads of difference to the way the car drives.

Rear mount is tricky but not impossible!
If your hanger is missing the stopers at the end, put a hose clamp on each end and tighten it up, will stop it comming off.

and Rmachines, thats an awesome idea with the hose clamps. saves me dragging the welder out lol
