Title: Headlight question

I have a k reg 8v gti but it came with a set of angel headlights so im looking to go back to standard. i have been told that i need the early ones with the rectangle holes in the back other than the later oval holes,,,,,,,,,,sooooooooo what i need to know is from what reg cars are the early ones?

any ideas would help greatly and also if anyone has a set would help even more! got money need spending!

Have a look at the plugs on the back of yours to confirm, and if so i think they are pre95 or at least very early in the production.

If not you can just cut and solder the later plug, all of the wires and colours match.

I think the rectangle plugs were only around for a couple of years (J/K reg). My L reg, and my dads L reg, both had the later type plugs.

Easy enough to change though, ive done it before with a bit of electrical tape and 10 spare minutes. :wink:

So...when do you wanna swap.... :grin:

Am I not right in thinking that a lot of the aftermarket lights run oval plugs anyway?  When I bought my quads from Venom they were oval plug, and came with retangular plug to oval convertors (that I didnt need).  It would be worth looking to see if this is the case with your angel eyes.

funny you say that cos ive just been having a look at mine and there seems to be a long rectangular socket just before the socket thats in the back of the lights which does look oval, so i might be lucky and already have the converted sockets :shocked: lol
