How do I fix this.... Is there anyone that has changed it,or is there any one in Devon who wants to come and help me change it? The MOT place want stupid money to fix it.. If anyone comes and helps they shall be rewarded with money and my internal gratitude!

whole dash has to come out because the airbox is stuck behind the knee bar. you have to take the wipers and scuttle trim off as well as there are some nuts that hold the dash inside the scuttle area.
oh and when you come to take the column off, dont bother trying to undo the shear bolts instead undo and remove the nut & bolt holding the steering column to the universal joint in the footwell. Pull the knee bar forward with the column still attached, just need it to come forward enough so you can pull the matrix out the top of it.
set aside a day to do it, its not particularly difficult but its fiddly and there is a lot that has to be taken out before you can get to the matrix.

Ewww...heater matrix swapping on virtually all motors generally equates to a mass influx of cursing, scuffed knuckles and and plethora of distantly scattered tools & parts!

yep i remember seeing my mates vr and wondering why all the dash was out.. he pointed at someting smaller than a kids shoe box lol.

Right tomorrow I'm tackling the beast... I just bought a heater matrix from GSF, I am going to try my best to take pictures and write it up to make it easier for the next person.

saw them changing a heater matrix in a merc on the show the garage and looked like a pig of a job....best of luck and the more guides the better

Thank's sooo much for that it helped know end! The matrix is out and has been beaten and shot with the 22, now just the long laborious task of putting it all back together....
