Well probably been asked a million times but now i'm just about f***king fed up with my laptop and windows 7 i have installed vag com 409 and the required drivers for an e-gay lead set it as per running it on vista as in windows service pack 2 administrator etc and click on it to open/run it and nothing!!! does not open and now im getting fed up  :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: anyone shed some info for me pls before i chuck this f****ing laptop through a window!!!!

I've had the same problems mate, Adam says he has his working on windows 7 so I'm trying one last time else I'm getting a handheld scanner.

Just tried re-installing mine and the same as you mate. Folowed the step by step guide that came on the disk with the drivers and now the program won't even open. 409.1 is what I got. Is that the right one?

Double check that you've installed 409.1s NOT 409.1us - the S stands for serial (which the ebay cables are, despite them using a USB connector they have serial->USB converter in the ODB2 connector) and the US stands for USB, which only the real Ross Tech cables will work with.

I found on 1 of my laptops installing / uninstalling VAG COM and drivers a bit stopped it from opening.

Uninstall that version, and reinstall to a different location.

have you tried running it in compatability mode, also if your running a version that your not supposed to you have to enable administrator permissions to the batch file

not that im running one of those versions, im just a software coder  :wink:

ah right nice one adam pm me if you want and let me know what you did cos i'm using the gf's laptop n the batterys crap to say the least i need vag com on mine  :wink:

after abit of searching so i can use the shareware version on my windows 7 laptop i used this http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.html) would prefer the full version but for the moment its ok opens ok and just got to test it with the e-bay lead and on the car  :wink:

Use windows 7, xp virtual pc mode its what i use for my 3rd party cable with batch file...  :smiley:
