Title: mk1 starter button
Post by: DAVID ESSEX on 19 November 2004, 19:57
I know this all sounds a bit knight rider but my mate gave me a call this afternoon and told me that his girlfriends brothers mate has just got himself a mk1 that fires up with a starter button!
I haven't ever seen one of these before but I may be a bit sad but this sounds quite good and I wouldn't mind one in my motor.
Has anyone ever seen one of these before? or does anyone know of any kits you can buy to do it?

(if anyone asks why I don't just ask my mate to find out from his girlfriends brothers mate. I would but on the same night the little chav got them kicked out of a club and my mate called him some quite rude words so I don't think they will be hanging out much in the future.)

i have never fitted one but if you want a cool looking button go for the renault laguna 2 starter button as it says start/stop on it and also has a built in L.E.D. for night use they are pretty cheap as well (about ?14 i think)hope that helps  ;)

I might have a look at those but I wouldn't have a clue how to fit them.
any idea?
My mate fitted a switch that flashed his brakes lights on without touching his brakes. It was very useful to scare people who got too close

If you go for the button you will still need your keys in the ignition ;)

dont you just take one of the ignition wires from behind the dash and put the switch along it? then you would have to put the key in turn and press the button to start the engine

yes if you could have a look into all that I would be very interested as I think it would be a nice little extra that would add a little something extra to the car.
I am in a word a novice so I would need all the help I could get.
Thinking about it my girlfriends uncle is a spark so I'm sure when the beast is up and running I could take it up to him for a look.

ive put a switch in my ignition wire and hidden it as an extra imoboliser but i did it so long ago i cant remember which wire it was, basically its the one which completes the circuit when you turn the key, im sure if your mates a sparky hell know straight away which wire to run the switch along ;)
