Title: CLAY BAR is A MUST!!!!
Post by: DubSociety on 05 April 2010, 11:21
Well after reading numerous threads, and lots of peoples reviews on the clay bar, I finally got myself the Meguiars 50g Clay Bar & Detailing Spray kit for £15.

Oh my god is all I gotta say' it is VERY easy to use, and the difference is crazy! Whole car feels smooth as glass, I was so impressed called my mate over to show him the difference, even he was shocked ... and the contaminents you pick up on the bar is amazing, so much contaminents that arent visible to the eye but effects the depth of the paintwork!

Put it this way, I will be claying my car on a regular basis, about 4 times a year, it takes no longer than just over an hour n a half if you chill out and dont rush yourself taking rests in between etc and about half/25g from the tiny 50g bar you get with the meguiars kit was enough to do the car ... next time ill buy the clay seperately so its cheaper.

Rests inbetween!

Twice a year max is all you'll need.

Hope you at least waxed after you clayed or all your work will be wasted! :)

LOL, yeah you can get carried away with the claying, it was like a cardio session!

But yeah, after I clayed a panel, I wiped off the lube, and applied Collinite 915 and worked my way round the car like that.

The word Gleaming doesn't justify it. Its just so nice to touch!! just wish I had an empty garage to store the motor in.

I wash after I clay, but anyway, you didnt polish then protect it first, before waxing ?

should always wash after you've clayed because the cleaning agents in the clay lube will stop the sealant and wax bonding as well

Absolute piss to use.

1. Wash your car
2. Dry it
3. Run your fingers over panels i.e. Bonnet, Above Side Skirts, you'll feel ruff bumps ...
4. Spray the clay bar lube on the surface
5. Rub back n forth using the clay bar
6. Wipe dry with a microfibre cloth
7. Re-run fingers, it should be gone and you'll see the contaminents on the clay bar, so remould it and repeat steps ...

Then its just a matter of re-washing the car, polishing and waxing.

Very easy, but time consuming.

Good value for money, 200g for a tenner can't go wrong ... and its not as abrasive as the other clays, and uses water! I like it. I think this one will require more 'elbow' grease so to speak to remove the more solid contaminents which is fine by me.

Thats correct and as already said it is very good value for money and must be the most cost effective clay on the market (I cut the bar into 4), I use the regular but I'm told that the soft is just as good. After using normal clay and a lube using just water took a bit of getting use to but it is a cracking product.

And if you glaze and seal, when do you do that?
