Any of your Mk6 GTI's have a leaking rear washer? I have already brought mine to the workshop more than a month back to get it fixed but sadly it just got a bit worse. Based on two months of obsevations, the leak seems to occur during enthusiastic driving and manifests itself by streaks of washer fluid on the rear window. I'm afraid some of the paint work at the bootlid has already been slightly affected. I will ring the dealer again to get the thing fixed but really do not want to drive to the workshop as it is inconveniently located. I am thinking of waiting till first service (around 6-8 months away) to get it fixed (again). What would you guys do? Think it's serious?

I have noticed mine dribbling water when I use the front screen washers only. Annoying because it makes a mess, but I can live with it. In fact, I had forgotten all about it until I read your post
-
haha.. sorry FroGTI.. to be honest, i'm not too concerned. its just annoying when you've just washed the car and the washer just dribbles onto the rear window.

I would recommend you see a urologist! :embarassed:

Also do a search on the mk5 forum this was a common issue with the mk5 as well. Its just the way it is iirc.

Do you not consider it important to get medical advice as living in desert-like conditions with lots of sandstorms may cause irritation to your waterworks?

I would say driving it hard or giving it some welli? But once or twice have noticed drips on the back windscreen? I dont use the washer's anyway, so I might drain off the bottle? have you got the winter pack?
-
^ How come you don't use the washers? do you only use it in dry conditions?

I use car laq on windscreen's , so I prefer to clean them myself very rarley would I use the washers, maybe on long trips on M-way journeys??
Lets say i have an obsession about cleaning my windsreen, I cant stand it being dirty
Ps I think hurdy suffers from the same thing in the MK5 section

I'm gonna get some of that carlack stuff, is it difficult to apply? does the "drip" from the washer just run straight down the window with it applied?

Yes its a very good product, blow's the rain X out of the water< (if you get my drift) No its not difficult just make sure you use a damp microfibor cloth to apply , use the cleaner first leave it on about 5-10 mins then buff off with damp microfiber cloth, then apply the car lack again leave for 5 mins then do the same process again brilliant stuff. The water just beads away last for months too!!

^^SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm, I might try some of that. I used RainX a couple of years ago and it was rubbish. Only lasted a few days.
Can you confirm we're talking about this stuff before I order some?

I am shocked as to how many of you guys are leaking!

Hi Guys,
I have the same problem as VmW mentioned in the first post...... water leaking from rear wiper on aggressive driving "S" sometimes on "D" and when doing U-turns.
I parked my car for two days and did not use the wipers front and rear for a week, so it is not the problem i guess.
i took an appointment with the Service this Saturday, just can't wait to go there and check what will be the solution....
:(

Your sig photo is pure class.

leaking rear washer was a problem with the mk5 so i guess its a problem they never fixed and we just have to put up with?
-
You'd think they would have put a simple one way valve in the line to stop this happening

GTI2010, I've already gone to the workshop and had little success.. I was told it had something to do with the lines which, according to them should not contain any water when the washer is not being used. The water, I was told should remain in the reservoir. They fiddled with it but.. still dribbling..
It would be interesting to see if they can sort out yours.
I noticed that you are in Abu Dhabi.. nice to see another one from the UAE..

To stop the washer dribbling, "the one way valve" as you put it, would be pushed closed by the flow, surely this would stop water coming out of the washer when you wanted to use it wouldn't it? Unless by one way valve you mean a spring loaded valve which is held closed but can be pushed open by a small pressure from the washer pump - that would work.

Aye, you're right! I didn't engage brain before posting that one I'm afraid! :embarassed:

You know i noticed something that this week i did not have any water leak, this morning i started my car and i used to front wipers when i put reverse to go out of the parking the rear wiper started automatically (which is an intellegent option). so i gave it and sprayed the rear wiper, it dropped little water after that and stopped.... i drove to dubai and back to abu dhabi and i had nothing dripping...
is it because the car was still new so that pipes r still not used, anyways tomorrow i will go and check at the agency....
yes VmW am from Abu Dhabi :) i bought the car on March 20.... and it is my first time in my life i own a GOLF...and it really ROCKS :)
I used to have a BMW 330 for 5 yrs until I had my rear chasies broken without having an accident  very strange i know maybe the heat in UAE causes alot of unexpected damages.....
-
GTI2010, the washer leaks do come and go. After the car had gone to the workshop, I did not notice any dribbling at all (but then it was raining at the time..). It only started again lately. Please post your dealer's findings after your visit to the workshop.
This is also my first Golf and find it very impressive..
Do post pics of your GTI.
