hello mate
looking at your pic thats a trait of a mk4  tbh your better of replacing it oem ones from vw come primered ready for painting easy enough job to remove, spray and then re-fit
-
for your 99 agu for the bootlid handle you require part number 1J0 827 565 B GRU and is around £50 then you need to factor in painting and removing fitting etc unless your handy with tools/paint
-
ITS LOOKING LIKE REPLACE THEN AINT IT!! BUT I'M GONIG TOO TAKE IT TOO THE BODYSHOP UP THE ROAD AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY!! AS I WANT IT DONE PROPER IF ITS GOING TO BE DONE!! YOU KNOW WHAT MEAN?? SOME PEOPLE CUT TOO MANY CORNERS!! AND THAT AINT MY STYLE!!
THANKS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE....

Mate you can try taking it to vw I'm sure I read in service book you get 12 year paint warranty but not 100% would need to check when I get back home
