Title: Now I realise how awful the RCD 310 looked.
Post by: GolfTi on 02 April 2010, 19:34
Just fitted my RCD 510 (takes around 10 minutes). Well chuffed with it.

The cabin looks like a new car, the white, red and black of the display matches the dash sooo much better than the Mk4/5 blue of the RCD 310.

Sounds the same but the option of 6 CDs is a massive plus as is the full display of artist, track and album.

Question. What's the little red 2mm diameter circle at the top right of the unit for? Can't see anything in the manual.

The RCD310 was the one and only thing I didn't like about my GTI and the only thing I regret not ordering from new.

Just a guess but maybe some sort of light sensor?

That's what I thought, in the manual it mentions an 'auto' mode for the screen display brightness setting.
Mine doesn't have this neither does the other RCD510 I've just looked at.
