I got my car back from bodyshop yesterday, having had a new driver door. Been out in it today only to find the front washers do not work. They worked perfectly fine a week ago when i dropped it off, but now nothing. The wipers still go, and the washer works on the rear, as well as the wiper. The tank is full, the fuses are fine. When attempting to use the washers the motor doesnt even run. Easy fix?

Try a new fuse EVEN if it looks ok.
Washer Pipe come off? :undecided:
-
Checked the pipes all ok and no leaks. Fuses swapped and tested, still an epic fail. Bit strange how its come back to me like this though, never had any problems. Im wondering, by a long shot, if its something to do with the wiper stalk wiring, and whether or not its plugged in down by the accelerator pedal, and this is where the loom for the door thats just been replaced is plugged in..... But then the rear washer works..... lots of muck on the road atm and screen is grubby :(
-
Hmmm is the wiring connector on the pump fully :undecided:
-
yep thats on... what a bugga this is

Get a multimeter and get someone to press the washers on to see if power is at the plug on the pump

Right ive plugged my washer motor into my brothers golf this morning its working fine, so it confirms an electrical issue somewhere on my car, the wiper stalk maybe?
-
I would say or as you said loose connection somewhere in the car :undecided:
-
FAIL. lol ok where do i start, sledge hammer for the dash?
-
Does everything else work?
Maybe somthing the bodyshop have done :undecided:
-
Turns out i was nearly right. The offending item was the plug that the door loom goes into (behing the panel where bonnet release is) i unplugged it, and the pump worked, back in, didnt work, cleaned the contacts up a bit, all is well now!! although half the dash had to be taken off to get to it! Least it didnt cost me again!!

Glad thats sorted

Hi
I wonder if there is any point in telling the body shop this.
May be an idea, next time they unplug/plug in a wiring plug from the door of a customer's car, they should check things like the wing mirrors, speakers,...windscreen washer.
