Title: GTI Insurance
Post by: topher on 18 November 2004, 11:55
Seeing as the insurance is up for renewal on my mk4 in 3 weeks and my favourites list is full of online quotes at the moment (plus i'm bored at work) I had a look at insurance on the new Mk5 GTI.

The online quote systems list this as a 2004 GTI 200 (as in 200bhp) which is in insurance group 17E

Here's the results

Date of birth 28/12/1980 , 4 years ncb, 2004 GTI 200 3dr

Admiral ?1328
Directline ?1037
Privelege ?893

Just for a comparison, Privelege quoted ?737 for a standard 150bhp 1.8T GTI Mk4.

I could've tried Budget, AXA etc... but i'd already laughed at their ?2000+ quotes on the mk4  ;D

Is there a race for the first existing forum member to own a Mk5 GTI?

I have insured my Mk5 Gti with Privelege, and at the grand old age of 32 it comes in at around £600 per year. I have always found Priv to be best for me and have insured some unusual and reasonably exotic machinery with them (mind you never had to claim yet so far as I know they may be crap from that point onwards!)

i'm with privilege aswell, they are pretty cheap and if you claim they're ok to deal with, no major hassle.
This year i've found 2 cheaper quotes tho. Bell Direct and the AA.
