Title: Indicator problem!
Post by: jamie_pyrite on 02 April 2010, 01:21
So I have a problem with my '91 mk2 valver.

The indicators don't work properly! If the battery is connected, the left hand side indicators (front, side, rear) stay on. If I change the indicators to turning right, the indicators flash double time (as my front right indicator is out). If I change the indicators to left, nothing happens. Nothing happens when pressing the hazards on either.

I replaced the number 21 relay and it worked for a day, now no longer works! I've checked it's plugged in properly too.

Any ideas? Is it possible that some dodgy wiring is blowing my no. 21 relay?!

Very stressed, I need to get the car MOT'd in the next 2 weeks and can't in this state :(

Thanks

At a guess I would say you need to replace the stalk.

So you'd suggest trying another set of stalks on the car then?

Would there be anything else I should check?

Right so this has turned out to be a problem with the alarm! Through research online, I've diagnosed it as a sticking relay which controls the indicators inside the alarm control unit. It's basically stuck on.. I've read a method of fixing this by an engineer that works for Sigma so going to do that next week :)
