Title: Bloody gremlins.
Post by: Mk2Kezza on 01 April 2010, 22:37
Having recently whipped off the rocker cover to sort the oil breather, the engine temp gauge in the dash is working intermittantly and the fan isn't kicking in. Are these related or is it a dodgy earth for the mfa guage and a i'm in need of a new (can't remember name) sender thing for the rad fan?

i can sympathise with you.

i've had a nightmare with temp gaude and rad switch too.

gauge sender is in side of block on 16V. not sure about 8v

Cheers Sprout,

Its an 8v, and I think the temp sender is on the side of the bock too. I will check the wires to the sender later. Any idea where I could pick up a rad fan sender? The one that screws into the rad I think (not looked properly yet).

on an 8v the dash sender is in the flange on the front of the head, 2 pin black on a later 8v like yours going from the pic in your sig. dash sensor, gauge and wiring have no impact on the rad fan at all. have a read of the coolant faq, covers how to test the fan amongst other things :)
