Title: intermittant clonk

Keep getting a intermittent "clonk" at full lock sometimes on my 1991 16v.
seems to be getting louder as the months progress.
any ideas?

isn't that worn cv joints?

worn outer cv's will give you a constant clicking noise

an intermittent clonk can be caused my numerous things. its just a case of jacking the car up and going thru every nut & bush and checking their condition

Id say its probably a cv joint of some kind, probably one of the outer ones

knackered engine/gearbox mounts also cause clunks

i had one with a knackered gearbox mount

yeah i had a gearbox mount go to made a clonk when i steered
