I want to get this working so i can make adjustments but cant seem to find anywhere to download a new version like 2.5. i got a v1.1 but it does not seem to work. any ideas?
also will it work with my standard 10 quid ebay cable which i can run vag com on?
-
I've read of some VAG COM ebay cables working with VAG Tacho, but tbh it probably won't work. I've seen VAG Tacho cables going for £25 on ebay if that helps.
-
what is the difference? i bet it has exact same pin configuration etc...
where can i get decent vag tacho software on the dwnld  ?
-
The pin configuration is the same (16 pin(?) ODBII connector ) but it's the electronics in the connector end of the cable that is different to the vag tacho cable in most cases.
-
A vag com lead wont work with vag tacho software
-
my tacho lead has some sort of circuitry in it. im not sure if the ebay ripoff ones are the same or just use a generic obd usb lead and deal with the the electronics with some software hacks. if the latter then you can get drivers to use your vagcom lead as a generic obd lead... never tried it myself though.
-
I'll give that a crack toph, not sure if I'll plug it into mine or someone elses when I test it  Can't have my car being bricked now can I?
-
if its a dodgy ebay cable be carefull! the later versions of vag-tacho can wipe the firmware on the cables if it sees that its a dodgy one
-
there is a circuit board in my ebay usb cable, only 4 of the pins on the odb side are connected to the pcb inside. where can i get the vag tacho software from i only got v1.1 and it keeps sayin k-line not found and wont connect to anything
-
AGU? possibly because there is no live on the kline pin for that ecu. Could always put a wire from the battery to pin 43 on the ecu to test. See if you can try it on an aum first though, the cable itself might be screwed.
-
ye i have an agu could i check to see the voltage with a meter?
-
How do we get vag tacho to work with an AGU then?
-
Vag tacho is for is for a tacho. You. Need the right lead. Don't try to use a vag com lead with it, it's not designed for it. An AGU probably uses VDO old clocks.
What are you trying to do with vag tacho?
-
Change my clocks to bora sport. Immo2 to Immo 2 btw
Right how exactly do you get the SKC code for NEW clocks?
Working from this guide..
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1921113
I have got my SKC from old clocks, and all the codings.
Removed old clocks, put new ones in, changed first coding [19] (section 15 on guide) tryed to change second coding [11] (section 16 on guide) clicked [Do it!] but seemed to change back to original, then needed SKC from new clocks when you try to login... (section 17 on guide)
So back in with Tacho, now says cant read ECU.. to get the SKC code from new clocks?
How am i supposed to get this then? Old code didnt work in vagcom as i tried it.
-
You should be getting skc from the new clocks before anything is changed. Try connecting with VDO new or old. Whichever one works. Then do your coding.
-
How do you get SKC from new clocks? Put them in car and run Tacho straight away before putting any of the soft codings in?
When i ran Tacho on new clocks connected to car, it said 'ECU not recognised'..?
That was on the 'all clusters' bit
..
-
You only select any tacho to find out what you have. Then you choose the cluster ( usually VDO new) and connect to selected tacho. Sometime you have to do it around 10 times before it connects properly.
-
This is what i did, any tacho first, wouldnt find anything, just kept searching the two variations 9600 and something else?
So put it on VDO new and kept telling me that couldnt read ECU, so i have to just percevere and let it keep going till it finds it?
Must of tried about 30 times tonight..
Is that the message you would get while it tries to connect properly?
-
There should be more than 2. Wait and let it finish. How many in the list of ecus?
-
Many on the list, about 15 to 20 i suppose on the ECU list itself, my problem is...
When you do the test to find out which you need, it scans between two sort of channels..
So went straight onto VDO new just to try and get it to work, then just got that ECU message...
-
do the "connect any tacho" every time.. it's not scanning the same 2 channels every time.
you're either doing it wrong, have an unsupported cluster or the cable/cluster is faulty
-
Right bud, i clicked on Connect any tacho, and it scanned 2 sort of 'channels', thats the best way i can describe it, over and over, possibly 9600 and 1400 or something like that.
When i got bored of watching that, and tried to connect to VDO new just to see it not work, i went back on the 'connect any tacho' and it seemed to scan the same 2 again.
Its an IMMO 2 bora sport cluster with part numbers that match up to a part number on a thread by old_no7.
-
plug the new clocks in, connect vcds and open the instruments module, it'll tell you the type of cluster in the right hand field. check for fault codes while you're in there too.
-
Will do tomorrow, if i get really stuck, ill take a video of whats happening, im not that great at explaining
