riez mon âne au loin.
LMAO even more
For the dumfounded:
Riez = imperative of the verb rire (to laugh)
Mon âne = my ass, in the sense my donkey
Au loin = far away or 'off' in an expression like 'off shore'
This is how Google translates Laugh My Ass Off

Snoops: Go back there and steal it!

I did pull it out of the holder to have a look at it and the thought for a split second did come into my mind and then thought don't be stupid as i think there probably only a quid or so anyway. I have a funny feeling this is maybe whats happened to mine  I bet the missing two weeks of my cars life after PDI were in a showroom.

Call Wankside and ask them to send you one.
-
Im going to email  I just wanted to check today and with others it still comes with one.
I still wonder about the GTI badged manual holder as mines just a VW one.
I may also ask were my car has been from March the 8th(when they PDIed it) to the 26th (When they said they could register it)

Strange, that time lapse. :undecided:

That missing time is why i keep asking stupid paint questions.
As in that time span of 18 days i keep thinking maybe it had something done to it, new wing. paint. whatever.

Hmmm... I wonder if thats why mine has been 'awaiting shipment' for over 2 weeks now!? Pranged it coming off the transporter, and then want to get it fixed before telling me its here?! My salesman knows as soon as I know its there I'll be going up for a look!!
-
Mine also spent 15 days at the docks before the time the dealer had it

Re: Manual holder I just got an ordinary VW one... I showed dealer the trusty checklist & apparently you don't get GTI ones anymore!

I hope in your case it is due to shipment delays. There have been some problems in Emden docks. Check the car very carefully. I got Mr. Toughseal do go over mine and it came to me nearly perfect except for the slight bonnet mis-alignment. The painwork is superb.
All the best.

Snoops:
I don't think and really do hope that anything untoward has 'happened' to your car. Your dealer was just plain useless.
But I can see why you are in so much doubt. It was a horrible buying experience for you.

So yours does not have any of these?
Door, wing hinge panel notice the rear of the wing is gray paint not body colour. (the blue is paint reflection)
A-pillar to wing. Notice the body coloured paint not going all the way to the lip edge of the wing panel or all way down the a-pillar.

Wheel arch on a dark blue car hum.
Boot Floor on a dark blue car, notice how my sound damping pads and grommits are not painted..
Floor and metal under the car just in thin gray primer..
-
Snoops:
I can't comment on the grey paint on the boot floor but my car does not have such glaring faults as in the other 3 pictures. I have checked very carefully today, whilst at work, with a strong torch light.
Try and find another blue/steel grey/carbon grey car and compare it with yours.
I can understand your constant concern as I would also be very inquisitive about the various blemishes after the awful experience you have been through.
If you are unhappy, just reject the car ASAP.
I just don't know what to say anymore.
-
I have seen a carbon grey GTDs at the dealers today in the showroom its the same more or less, not quite so bad but the same. I also got to see another GTD in the same colour in the carpark its apillars and front wings looked similar. I also got to see a basic graphite blue whos a-pillars were exactly the same as mine but could not easily check the rest as it was locked up.
I also noticed on 2 black metallic normal mk6 golfs the apillars been half as bad as mine and its wings if i looked through the door shut line i could see the grey there similar to mine.
I even noticed the apillar bit on a 58 plate R32 they had in. The salesmen most have thought i was a nutter
-
What do you intend to do now?
Do you feel that a non-metallic colour will be better finished?
Have you checked a white, black or red one?
If they are, maybe you can make a case with your dealer for a swap, but lose the money on the metallic paint.
What do you think?
-
Snoopy
If it's any consolation my boot & wheelarches are just the same!
I will look very closely at the other areas you've highlighted tom...
Ben
-
BTW:
Road roar at speed is much less now.
However, there is still wind noise at speeds over 50 mph. I will check tomorrow whether it is from the door mirrors and/or the door seals. I will fold the mirrors and see if this is reduced. If so then some of it has to be from the door seals. Anyway, they will need changing under warranty.
I will also check the passanger side.
I never had any wind noise from my Type R GT, so I feel this is not ok.
Maybe another thread is due!
The car is still fantastic to drive!
-

Ben
Do you think we are expecting too much quality from VW?
I must admit my Type R GT had full paint coverage, though it was also full of orange peel!
-
AM1W
No i don't, you pay premium prices you expect that attension to detail and level of quality and finish.
If honda or whoever can paint there cars body shell in body colour like everyone has done for decades then VW has no reason not to either imo.
What am i going to do. This cr has took up near 8 months of my spare time and life i cannot just give up now. What am i going to do. VW lost cause i think. Dealer is a joke.
So that leaves me to sort a few things out i guess if this is VW standard. A friend of a friend knows a company that has done his import Nissan and a few other cars so i may enquire about a underseal/waxoil treatment iirc they charged the lad £200 to do his G35sallon thats all underneath with covers and arches out. That seemed a good deal to me. Or i will remove all the underside covers and use the waxoil i have and just spray it on very very thick and put some down that a-pillar gap and back of the wing.
B3N
Thanks mate, Are your sound damping pads in the boot black too? Or have they been sprayed. The one i got to see today were a grey as were the grommits. Mine are black.
-
Snoops:
Most/all(?) dealers are a joke.
Even the bodyshop I went to had 3 goes to re-align the bonnet.
They were nearly there and far better than VW Germany!
Eventually, I had to do it myself!
Now I have to sort out the wind rustle at speed. It never bloody ends.
After all this: Happy Easter!
-
Hate taking my car back to the dealers!
It had a rattle in the boot, took it in they replaced the bump stops. Three days later i picked the car up . Drove it home rattle free and then noticed the tailgate was all twisted !!
I phoned the dealer back up and they told me i had to take it 30 miles to their bodyshop!!
Another day messing about because they had just fitted the bump stops and left them at FULL SIZE(they need to be adjusted when fitted)
Also went in as the memory position on the drivers seat didn't work when letting people in the back, that doesn't work again now so another trip back!
-
Sundaydriver:
PITA (pain-in-the-arse), I know.
So far my car is pretty good. Except for the speedo/rev counter/radio not being lit at times when lights are on auto mode. Wierd. It might be a different story today.
I had electric seats on another VAG car and the memory function was always UTC (up-the-creek)!
PS: You don't mention you have leather/electric seats in your signature
-
Im thinking what he may meen by memory seats is as his is a 3 door when you tip the seat forward to let people into the rear the base also slides forward. But when you go to latch it back to its normal position it does not remember were it was originally. I think hondas have this problem iirc.

Yes they do. Drove me nuts on my Type R GT. That is why a got a 5 door Golf.
-
http://ownerwelcome.com/ (http://ownerwelcome.com/) > GTI > Easy Entry
yeah probably this rather than electric seats.

Spot on snoopy.
-
the seat does go back into position. You just need to make sure you move the base back before releasing the lever :-)

Not mine it doesn't, that's why it's going back to the dealers the 2nd time.
