Hi All,
Need an answer as getting different information from different people. Can someone tell me if the turbo my car has a variable vain turbo. As debating on getting the turbo cleaning kit from innotec which they state my car is a variable vain turbo but vw are stating it is not so now i am a bit lost?confused. I have also had another mechanic who has stated it is not a variable vain turbo.
The issue:
LIMP MODE.
After going into limp mode then turning the engine off and then back on again the issue resolves it self and the turbo kicks in again. I am not getting any smoke from the back, but I dont think it pulls like a 150 bhp should.

That is very worrying!!

Closest ones to you are most likely Awesome GTi in Manchester
There is also PSI Tuning in Stoke-on-Trent too

Just talked to someone at PSI and they confirmed it variable vain turbo. So god know what crap vw are advising there customers. Mite call them back and complain. I just find its scary as they are telling customers useless info and they work on the cars everyday.

Need a set of ramps ideally as you need to wiggle the actuator. I'd get a garage to do it ideally

Solved by boost issue. It was a pipe at the front which has come loose before the turbo. Didnt have any smoke though. how much is it for the replacement rubber seals?

about £2 each from the dealers
small pipe going into the intercooler?? Check the lugs aren't worn otherwise it will continue to pop out and the only solution is a new pipe

not trying to hijack but what would be the turbo upgrade for a 150pd instead ofhybrid jusy a brand new garrett upgrade?
-
Garrett turbo of a audi 3.0tdi also needs a load of custom work
-
is there nothing straignt of the shelf to fit?
-
nope, just hybrid, which for an extra 20 odd bhp aint worth it
-
thats a shame someone on ukmivs said they was in a post but carnt find it. so after remap exhaust there is nothing really to do except hybrid and like u siad it aint worth 20bhp extra
-
What massive gain you get from the remap would probably be enough to keep you happy anyway.

It suffices for a time........
-
True then I suppose you'd get too used to it and at that stage i'd rather go buy a more powerfull car
