Title: Mk3 Steering Wheel Controls
Post by: Red_Tekk on 30 March 2010, 12:25
Is there any option for us Mk3 drivers if we want control of our HU through a steering wheel stalk or possibly a custom wheel with controls built in that I could wire up to my HU?!

Ha, did you mean buy a newer golf?!

It was just a tentative thought have not really looked into it, did a quick google search but couldn't find much out about it...?!

There was never a steering wheel option but depending on what headunit you have you might be able to get a steering wheel mounted remote. I believe Pioneer did/do one.

Ultimately you can just buy a newer Golf.

Some older Sony units (not sure about modern one's) had a stick-on stalk that you could put on the cowling, some use a small remote which mine does although i do'nt use it.

Correct, found some pics on google... these are 2 of the remotes I've had before now (although not tried in a VW)
