Title: Clocks
Post by: JezGTI on 16 November 2004, 23:06
I'm slowly sorting out the niggles with my MK2 gti H reg (1991) 8v.  I'm now trying to work out why the mfa isn't working fully, I get the time, trip time & outside temp (i used to get oil temp too but that just went off one day?).  Any ideas for fixing it or do I have to get hold of a replacement from ebay or similar?

The MPG reading uses a vacuum connection round the back of the clocks which runs from a vacuum pipe to the inlet manifold somewhere.  The oil temp runs from a sensor which is screwed into the oil filter housing, you should have 2 sensors screwed into it, the one closest to the engine block is the MFA I think!

Cheers, does the vacuum pipe work with any of the MFA functions also i.e. trip mileage?

MPG is worked out using vacuum, speed and revs I believe.
