These guys told me they can get them to directly fit a MK4 golf.
£425.00 for 4 alloys + Tyres!

You think they would look nice?
How nicely do 18's sit on mk4's?
-
Personally I've never really thought that the Monzas suit the MK4, but thats just me.
-
That's fair enough opinion. :)
I have to say I do like them, im not to bothered about the replica's obviously not having the VW badge in the middle. But I dont know if I should get 17 or 18. I got my daughter in the back, and dont want it to be to much of a rough ride over speed bumps, I live near LOADS. and have to go other loads on way to work every day. so It's deffo not being lowered.
-
I'm not the biggest fan of them but they do look good imo. If i were you id go 18s just because i have 17s and wish they were 18s or 19s but saying that i dont know how bad the ride will become
-
Oh yeah, if you are going to get some, what ever you do make sure you get at LEAST 18s.
I changed from 17s to 18s and noticed a considerable increase in price of tyres between 18 and 19 hence i went for 18s.
-
How much you think im looking at for tyres for 18"'s ?

Decent tyres are £80 a corner and up
-
thats not bad priced to be honest....
You think its worth £425 for 4 alloys + Tyres then? 18"'s

How much did you pay for 18 Googyears?

I paid just that or there abouts (I cant remeber now) for just the tyres. Are you running standard 150bhp?

As i said DECENT lol
Vredstein's which I got on the rear can be had for around £90 from Camskill
I paid £105 per corner for the Goodyears' last September from Camskill. Would have had more but no one had them in stock so went for the Vredsteins
-
Currently running standard, but within the next 2 weeks I will be running 180-190 ... that a problem?
-
lol no course not. Was just asking as obviusly the more power, the better stopping / tyre grip your going to want. With 150 you can get away without haveing to spend big money I think on tyres (IMO).
As Rhyso said the Vredstein's are pretty good and Iv heard nothing but good things about them and are a decent price.
-
Ah right, well thats good to hear, i'm prob going to wait a bit before i got my tyres
-
Have you got 18s now then?
-
Opps, I meant Alloys, sorry at work and was talking to my mate at the same time as typing Lol.
Nah I've not got them yet, Ive only recently bought my GTI and repaying the loan, had the loan for 1 month and already paid off half of it. (£1000) so i'm hoping 2-3 months I can get me some alloys ;)
Got my air filter on way, then going to get forge 007p. Then got some cosmetic matters to deal with ;)
Needs the following:
2x Wing mirror covers (£16 quid each on ebay)
1x New rear centre console as mines got a crack (Already bought just need to fit)
1x Rear ash tray as mines broke (£15)
Also need to get my head unit linked up to my CD Changer I bought with the cable I bought.... Just dont want to fit it myself as I'm bad with stuff like this and love my car to much LOL. Costing £30 for fitting :)
Having it remapped by a personal friend off the books ;). (£0)
Then going to get me my alloys when loans repayed. :)
-
Oh right, fair enough.
Hope it all goes well ;)
-
Cheers,
I'll put up some posts of my car soon, seeing as everyone else has. 4 months ago it had a full body respray. So the silver looks awesome. Only thing is, idiot owner before me has damaged both wing mirrors since. So hence why im havin to repair them myself. ;)
So we think I should get the Replica alloys or not? Seems we got mixed views on them atm
-
I think they look alright.
I remember seeing a white mk4 running on MK5 rims which aren't a million miles from what you want. It looked cool.
-
Problem with alloys is they are a very personal thing so what some people might like others don't.
My wheels of choice for the MK4 are either BBS RCs, BBS LMs or BBD CHs (CHs being the numero uno) but thats just what I like and if we all had them wheels it would be pretty boring.
-
Yeah true that, I think to be honest I will go for them, even though they are replica's and cheap :O Lol. They look pretty sweet I wreckon, and no1 near me has them so not to worried :D
-
even though they are replica's
You think I paid thousands for my BBS LMs . . . . ;)
-
how much you pay? lol
And just for the record....

If you scroll down that link.... are the tyres they come with good? :S
-
No idea as it doesnt say what the tyres are, but at that price they wont be premium tyres.
I was just saying that there isnt anything wrong with replicas as long as they are ok. I paid just under 1k for 18 LM reps but the price was high because I specified I wanted Goodyear Eagle F1 Assyms which arent cheap.
Genuine 18 LMs are around £3200.
-
says the tyres are:
225/40/18 ZR Tyres
92W Extra Load - Max speed 168

No brand name though

ZR is just the speed rating - http://www.performancealloys.com/tyre_tech.asp
I doesn't actually say what the tyres are.
-
Really not a fan of them rims, but thats me.

Hey guys, Ive just done a swap for my five spoke A3 alloys for a replica set of the 17" MK5 Gti's. I have a silver car too and to be honest i really like them. Im sitting on 35mm springs at the mo but front hasnt dropped as much as i'd like so having to maybe put 50mm under front however they do look good in my opinion. Although the silver/chrome styled look I think isnt the best with the Silver of my car. (Reflex Silver) Hence the reason I'm gonna have them sprayed a Glossy Black type colour, a shiny colour. Seen a pic of this already around the net and It looked sweet. Ive got to colour code bumper inserts yet so once thats done it'll look nice I reckon:) Here's a pic mate that might help u decide...

That looks sweet!!!!Where you get em from??And thanks bud :P
-
I done a swap with a friend, he never said what website but he said he paid around 500 for them which was back in October so I honestly couldnt tell u right now but I will ask and let u know asap buddy.
-
Ok cheers buddy x
-
Get them! i have them but without anthrcite inners  just get some good locking nuts as mine come with the wheels and they are terrible as the height of the locking nut socket causes the wheel brace to scratch the alloy face if not careful! I just said this in another thread too
-
just make sure if u do buy the wheels you get the 5x100 rather than the 5x112 coz they wont fit on the mk4. :)
