3-yr warranty is up this week, and VW have agreed to replace various parts under the warranty. But what guarantee period have I got on these replacement parts?
ie. if they replace them, and after a week the new part fails, will they say "tough, your warranty expired last week", and even though a 1-week old part has failed we will not replace it etc.
Or do any new parts have a minimum guarantee period, regardless of whether I paid for them myself or they were under warranty?
Thanks.

Think all replacement parts have a 1 yr warranty, could be wrong though.

99% sure parts and labour will be guaranteed for a year.
Any work schedule/invoice will say on it.

Pritty sure if anything goes after warranty is up its not coverd even if it had just been replaced.
Replacement parts are only coverd if they have been paid for.
I had a new dsg gearbox fitted a couple of month ago and my warranty is up next month and i asked the same question
'has the new gearbox got 1 year gte'? and i was told cos it was fitted under warranty it is not cover when warranty runs out.

Thanks for the replies folks.
Replacement parts are only coverd if they have been paid for.
So can I offer to pay 1p?!

Clint's right,
The fraise they use is "you dont get warrnanty on warranty"
When you buy a part your efectivly paying for a warranty, So if you dont pay for it you dont get it
But your right in thinking if you pay towards (even a penny) you will get warranty on the parts, it just depends on wether they'll let you.

As per Volkswagen website -
http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/warranty/factory/terms
"Any part which is replaced becomes the property of Volkswagen. Any replaced parts are covered for the unexpired period of the vehicle warranty."
"Replacement parts warranty
All Volkswagen Original replacement parts carry a warranty for a period of 2 years/unlimited mileage, from the date of purchase. Items with warranties in excess of 2 years will be advised to you at the time of purchase. The 2 year warranty does not apply to parts fitted under the terms of the vehicle warranty, which are warranted for the remaining period of the vehicle warranty."
Hope this helps.
