I read on here the other day that a golf CL's engine could be covered up with a Polo GTi's engine cover, I'm sure it was Joe who said this. I like this idea very much, surely someone, somewhere knows of an engine cover that can be used on an 8v GTi MK3 and a 16V GTi MK3
Any ideas???

Correct, it was me.
Although it's not just the Golf 'CL' and it's not a Polo 'GTI' engine cover either.
The engine cover is from a Polo CL, and will fit any 1.0, 1.4 or 1.6 engine whether it be in a Golf, Polo, or whatever, providing you also get the brackets with the engine cover.
I've fitted one to mine, and it seems I've set off a new trend

I'm afraid to say that nothing can make a 2.0 8v engine look good. Well apart from a bomb of course.
The 2.0 16v just needs a lick of paint to make it look pretty. I personally like the black and red colour scheme, which is what I did with my VR6...

doubt a gti cover would fit??
but the polos of the same age had covers, and they are exactly the same engines....so im sure you can work that equation out!!
-
Polo GTI is 16v so will not fit.
-
So, the general consensus is my engine bay will have to stay looking sh*tty and out dated then
-
no...like i said the polos of the same year is the exact engine that was put into the golf. Therefore the covers will fit off them polos. Joes first picture is one of those covers. It doesnt cover the engine up..just fills in a few gaps between the head and the airbox!
-
However those covers will not fit a Golf GTI.

Look at my picture, the 1.4 and 1.6 engines lean forwards, the 2.Slow leans back like the 1.8
