Title: starting probs

Thought i had this sorted yesterday,am getting plenty power from the battery,when i turn the key i get red ig lights but the rev counter goes up to 5k then drops back to zero.When i turn the key to start i get the 2 red lights and the blue main beam bulb and i just get clicking but with no turn over.Thought i had narrowed it down to the hall sender but all seems ok there.Any ideas anyone?

Does the fuel pump prime? Can you check the coil? It is turning over or you getting nothing when you turn the key?

The pumps are priming and am getting fuel,its not turning over just clicking and ignition lights come on aswell as the blue main beam one,i think it must be somthoing to do with the hall sender i have another dist to try.
The cars had a few cold start probs over the winter battery being knackerd didnt help either.

check earth at back of head above dizzy

i'd managed to break one messing on saturday. Car would start but backfired and stalled everytime.

Earths are all fine mate had them off on saturday,cleaned and checked them.

As it's just clicking sounds like something electrical. What volts you getting from the battery? If it was trying to start then I would've said plugs,leads,dizzy etc.

Put a jump lead from the battery -ve to the alternator bracket and the car turns and eventully starts.
Any ideas?

This is deffo sounds earth related, i'd double check others around the bay and even in the driver footwell.

Am just away to double check all earths again,wheres the earth at the drvers footwell?am putting new distributer on and a new set of bosch super4 plugs(leads and rotor arm/cap are all new)

Didn't change the distributer cos i forgot it doh,changed the plugs and fuel filter though.
Timing was out the big v notch was about 1cm from where it should have been it now runs alot better and started 1st turn of the key.Am goin to put another earth off the engine too.
