Title: Need Help !!!!!
Post by: Wisey on 27 March 2010, 15:48
My wheel bearing went on my car last week and to was getting quite noisy, it was a weird sound was a kind of rumbley sort of noise. So took the hub off the car and took it to a garage to get a new bearing pressed in. So got that done went home and fitted the hub. But now went i go over small bumps in the road i get a sort of metal on mental sound like something is lose  and when i go above 30mph am getting the same rumbley sound but its alot worse and just gets louder and it gets loud enough you cant hear the engine over it

I have jacked the car off the ground and there is no play in the wheel this time at all, and still getting the same noise. But when i turn left the noise goes completely  :undecided: was the passengers side bearing that was replaced. But the car doesn't pull to one side either.

Can anyone help or give advice cause am stuck now

Jack car up, Spin wheel(1 hand), with other hand place it on the spring. Do you feel any vibration? - Wheel bearing.

Hi
Check the other side. I am a bit confused about the 'turning' test. I thought if you turn left and the noise goes away means the right side bearing is at fault.

My tyres arent like that mate. Well not yet anyway! And I always check they are properly inflated every 3-4weeks.

If the tracking was out would that cause a noise or would it just cause pulling to the side etc? but the weird thing is that it doesn't pull to one side  :undecided: but if you look at the front of the car when the wheels are meant to be straight. You can see that they aren't facing the same way. So dont know what it could be
