Best bet is to get the car on vagcom to check to see if there are any faults and take it from there. Whereabouts in S London are you?

I have never asked the dealer to run vagcom on my car before, so not sure if they charge. No doubt they would do though.

Their is a list of vag com users on here somewhere. Have a look through the list and see if their is anyone near you who has vagcom and willing to help.

Yes mate. Build over time. Once cleared you should notice a huge difference!

What about those orange fault readers from ebay? I bought one before but didn't use it.

They are good but vag com is way better

Much more expensive too! I'll get another of the orange readers. How extensive is the fault list on the OBD?
If my car was running rough, would it bring up a fault i.e would it show my fault MAF?

Cheers.

in a word no - knackered MAF will 9/10 times not show a code

You need vagcom to measure the MAF and ensure its figures are meeting those requested by the ECU
