Title: Help - car is in bits!
Post by: Mr_Orange on 25 March 2010, 18:28
I've been trying for months now to sort out a creak from inside the back of the car (behind my head somewhere).  It's a 3 door.  Noise is coming from the interior somewhere and driving me doo-lally.
I've tried the following:
With back seat up and all trim in it creaks ALOT
With back seat down and all trim in it creaks a bit
Parcel shelf removed it still creaks as per above
With side panel trim out and seat up it creaks ALOT
With side panel trim out and seat down it doesn't creak at all

Inside of the car looks like a granade's gone off!!  Only trim I've not had out is the rear pillar trim, but can't work out how to remove it.

Help I'm losing my marbles on this one!!

Soz dude, can't see a relevance in that link?  It's coming from the back of my car and seems to be something to do with the rear seat.

I've succeeded in stopping it by dropping rear seat forward, removing the side (speaker) trim and parcel shelf...

With seat back up it still goes creaking crazy!  :undecided:

It's not the bits that the rear seats clip onto on the bottom section if you get me? The two bits that push into the holders...

The latch mechanism for releasing the seat backs?  Dunno mate, but I might try greasing them up too.

Problem is the creaking is so loud I find it hard to believe its something to do with the fitment of trims, but taking those bits out listed above has cured it.

ps - I just found out how to remove that boot/shelf trim thing in a page about removing the headliner.

The grommit went in fine. I'm just going to get some sealant and seal it up good and proper. Maybe when I tugged the cable it pulled it out. Got to fit my new wipers anyway so I'll whip the cover off and have a gander. Or it could be the water that was left trickling down... Although it's hardly likely as it got wet when it rained :s
