Title: Which oil for top up???
Post by: marty341 on 25 March 2010, 18:19
Hey guys

Oil light came on this morning on my way to work! checked the level, and is in need of a top up!

What make/brand of oil is recommended for top up?

It had its long-life service 3,000 miles ago.

Thanks

that's a lot of oil to use in 3k.

Personally I dont like to mix oil brands, I'd stick to the same stuff available from the dealer.

Long life or standard servicing plan?

Castrol edge 5W-30 is my choice on the long life.

Long Life oil should be used across all service plans (well both time&distance and longlife).

5W-30.

Having said that, I once went to the dealers to buy some and they topped it up for free.

Even if it is on Time and Distance, make sure you request on services that only Long Life oils are used - its better for the engine. Otherwise the dealers will use the crappy Time&Distance oils.
Also top up with Castrol Edge 5w30.
