now then ave got a quote for a cam belt and service me supplying parts (£170) just wanted to know what you think wud be a reasonable price to get teh work doen.
cheers
-
I Was quoted £120 to get a cambelt + waterpump fitted on my mk3 golf and they supplied parts which i thought was good. depends what service theyre doing i suppose but id say a little more than expected.
if your supplying all parts. £130/140 is good.
-
Doesn't sound too bad. However will they be replacing the tensioners & rollers too?
-
Somewhere around £150 for labour i would say...
-
You taking it to a garage now Nad ?
Usual rate for cambelt change is around £120, Service £50, Both together somewhere around £150.
-
was quoted £72. for the belt and w/pump labour only this was at a specialist yesterday.
-
From what i've seen, 1.8T cambelt is a fairly involved job.
Certainly more difficult than on a mk3 gti.

Much more involved than older engines due to the fact you could walk through a MK2/MK3(bar vr6) engine bay and not even notice the engine.

For what car?
Book time on a 1.8t Cambelt is 2.5-3hrs im sure without looking. That puts there labour rate at less than £25/hr, Never seen less than £45/hr in my area.

Had mine done last week 1.8 mk4 cost 4 hours at £35 an hour for belt, tensioners water pump fitted plus vat just over £160 I supplied the cambelt kit and pump had a good look round before hand and this was average price.

£35 an hour??
Down south you'd be lucky to get cheaper than double that, well in Surrey
