Title: What is this leak?
Post by: ash159 on 21 March 2010, 12:23: Is this a leak of some type? if so what is it from the looks of it its oil but on the air intake?

If you want to stop that you remove it and add in an oil catch tank :smiley:

at my local VW [Rotherham] its Part number : 038 103 493A Air Hose £6.91 including VAT

ive just orderd a new one to

out of intrest why is there oil coming out of it? thought it was just air that passed through there.

its oil vapour AFAIK

Basically the TDI's are 'heavy breathers' and vent the vapour back into the turbo intake pipe

What you can do is fit a catch tank and stop that going back into the TIP. This in turn stops your intercooler clogging up with the stuff, thus improving performance and reducing smoke levels :smiley:
