i have a mk2 with a strongish 16v in it, the question is wether to tune the bo*$*x off of it or just swap it out for a vr6 lump, any advice, ideas please??
-
VR6 for me, there is nothing like a 6 pot purrrrrrrr, well maybe when you put your foot down
Doing either is going to cost big bucks though.
-
completely depends on what you want from the car, how you use the car etc
with a vr6 i see a comfy cruser, with a 16v i see a rev happy racer

if your looking for torque VR6 ftw, however in a mk2 16v I think is the better choice.

sometimes its perhaps a wise idea to stick with the engine already in the car, to save on wiring issues etc! i suppose it depends on how mechanically minded you are.
i'm still fixing things on my mk2 vr6. at least it runs now i suppose
also performance difference between a tuned 16v and a standard vr6 would be negligible.
the VR6 noise though.... PHWOAR!

16v on itb's makes a nice noise to

k cheers well im pretty mech minded but the thing with the engne swap thats scaring me is the wiering, as for tuning the 16v what are my options then, it already has a full system and 4 branch manidol and a px cradle filter, hows about webbers or bike carbs, dont know much about throttle bodys exept the fact that they cost a load. cams are ovious but whats the head like as standard compared to flowed, is it worth all the hastle of pulling it all apart and trying it myself, ive done pinto and mini heads before but these were both cast and only 8 valves, but gave impresive gains. was also thinking fo completeley isolating the air intake as the whole engine bay is hot when being screwed, cheers G

headwork, cams, throttelbodies ( or carbs but they need jetting right or it'll b ghay )

how strong are the bottom ends on the standard 16v's woulnt mind stikin a supercharger on it for a change????
