I believe the golf r32 has a timing chain, I was wondering does this ever have to be replaced or bearing/tensioners have to be replaced?
If yes does anyone know the VW recomended mileage please?
Thanks

Indeed fitted with a chain, you don't need to worry about replace till you hit 100K miles. And you'll know if it needs replacing, becomes chainy/noisy. Like a slack chain on a push bike.

Cool cheers for the info, is it a costly job to replace?

If the same as a VR6 then yes very expensive.

I imagine quite a bit more expensive on the R32. Best thing to do is ring around some garages to get some quotes

Who's stinks? Nah I'm in need of a 5 door car and a bit of an upgrade to my golf, I was thinking of maybe swaping or part exchanging my car for a golf that I had seen advertised, it's a blue r32 with 81,000 miles and wanted to find out if it would cost me slot in the near future, I might ring vw monday and see how much they charge but I think I'm put off already lol I've only just recently had my cambelt changed and stuff and don't really want to spend more money on another car :p
